Guatemala trip, needed suggestions

I leave for a trip to Guatemala in a few days. I will be joining an
Orthopedic team with Hearts in Motion. After providing prosthetic care for
two Guatemala patients in Milwaukee, they have asked me to assess their
situation in Guatemala for Orthotic and Prosthetic care.
I am requesting suggestions from anyone and/or anyone with experience that
has fit patients in third world countries.
The two patients I fit came from dirt floor huts. The transtibial and
transfemoral patients I fit, literally in 2 to 3 days were walking all day
and using a one point cane (hard socket designs). Most of the success is
attributed to someone that has very little in life and will work/walk with
anything.
My dilemma is time in fabrication. Has anyone had experience in fitting
prefabricated sockets by simply putting together donated components?
Tentative plans are to try and establish care all year round. I have already
had a surgeon visit my office in which I will be training him to provide O&P
care all year around.
Whoever is interested on what's going on, I will return information. Since my
trip will be ten days please allow me time to respond to everyone's
suggestions. Thank You in advance for your help.
