Justin,
I hope that you can take the message below for what it's worth - nothing. I am
always glad to see new people in the field speak out and throw out different
ideas. When I studied Industrial Design, I wondered why large companies would
pay us(students) to design things through design competitions. Our ideas were
seldom used. Looking back on it, I suspect that they used these competitions as
a way of breaking open the box. Students have a fresher outlook and are less
burdened with this is the way it's supposed to be done. They are less
influenced by financial or political constraints. So, while your ideas may not
make practical sense, you may help us to begin looking at things in a little
different way. I, for one, appreciate your questions and comments. And
remember that your critics can't take your computer away from you or remove you
from the list. Their comments are only their own opinions which, like this one,
don't represent everyone on the list.
