Dear Colleagues,

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Mr. Charles
Martin Fryer. Mr. Fryer was born October 24, 1925 and died August
28, 2002. Mr. Fryer was a WWII Navy veteran, a retired associate
professor of Northwestern University and former director of the
Prosthetics and Orthotics Center at Northwestern University. Charles
Fryer became the Director of NUPOC in 1962. Mr. Fryer spent 26 years
at NUPOC between 1962 - 1988 educating the nations prosthetists,
orthotists, physicians and therapists. Prior to coming to
Northwestern, he had taught at both New York University and the UCLA
programs. Previously, Fryer had been Director of Physical Therapy at
the Hospital for Joint Diseases in Manhattan.

Survivors include his wife, Lucrecia Istueta (Betty) Fryer; and the
Istueta Landajo Family in Argentina. A memorial service will be held
for Charles at a later date.

I will keep the list informed as we find out any additional
information about the services.

Thank you,
--
