Just a thought about the bidding war...
Can we put together a unified prosthetic/orthotic alliance representing
qualified providers/businesses in each and every state and submit ONE bid to
Medicare?
Would it be possible to band together enough to do this, that way patients
still have a choice to go to whatever one of the alliance satellite
offices they choose, since they are all equal and all receive the same
reimbursement rate???
I don't believe that PT/OT/Pharm. etc. are really interested in providing
CUSTOM prostheses and orthoses, so I don't think they would even bid, just
concentrate on OTS goods... maybe I'm wrong???
Is there a criteria for organizations that are eligible to bid for the
contract? Does it have to be a single business/entity?
Could it be an uber-conglomerate made up of all p&o offices currently in
operation?
If this is possible, could we all just agree (haha, I know...) on a average
rate for each p&o L-code, and submit just the one bid representing all of
us???
Probably a long-shot, but it would sure be great! It would show medicare
that there is one and only one group of people able to provide the care our
patients need... Let's ask our D.C. counselor!
