Dear Listmembers:

I need some advice on a new patient of mine.

He is a 23 year old male who had an amputation due to a motor vehicle vs.
tree accident. As a result, he had a brachial plexus injury, and finally an
elbow disarticulation amputation. He has no muscular control of the humerus.
He is able to depress and elevate the shoulder, and can achieve biscapular
abduction.

He is a very active young man, who likes to hunt and fish. He has mentioned
an interest a myoelectric prosthesis. I have tested him and was unable to
get any substantial myo-signals. Also, I have no experience with the
myo-switch controlled by the harness. We have talked about a possible hybrid
design, but might have to go with a conventional Elbow Disarticulation with
HD joints.

So, anyone have any thoughts, I would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Eric Ramcharran, CPO
