I have a female patient with a suction socket BE that makes “the
unsociable” fart sound often. I suggested wearing a nylon sheath and
she then loses suspension. A 1 ply sock makes the socket too tight. I
cut a ¼” hole in the distal posterior aspect of the socket in an attempt
to allow air to escape (valve), but this really did nothing. I would
have made the hole bigger if it helped reduce the noise any, but it
didn’t seem to make any difference at all. The noise seems to be
originating right at the brim. Any suggestions? I’m out of ideas.
Namaste.
