I don't know who the nominee is but I would like to nominate Tony Barr. Tony
has done more to promote the cause of amputees more than anyone I can
remember in recent years. His work with the Barr foundation has brought
together many facets of the O and P industry to help less fortunate
amputee's here in our country an others all over the world .His
philontrophic organization has fit hundreds of patients around the world
with prostheses free of charge . Without his foundation , those people would
be without limbs.
His constant lobbying for high standards of care for amputees is second to
none. He has testified before the Florida legislature on many occasion in
helping us to secure minimal educational standards for prosthetists in
Florida and has helped many other states obtain higher educational standards
in there states.Tony has also carried this same message to congress.
Tony has been a beacon in the night for many practitioners including myself,
and the industry in general. He is continuosly critized by various
oganizations because he has shined a light on areas that they should have
been more sensitive to. Even though this critizism his light still shines
brighter than ever.
Tony has been a strong advocate for better reinbursement for prosthetics
both by the government programs and private insurance.
There has been no better advocate
Thank you ,Tony
