Seeking contributors to a proposed creative solutions panel
to be convened at the 2003 meeting
of the Association of Children's Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics (ACPOC)
St Petersburg, Florida
May 14-17, 2003

OPAF seeks to organize for next year's ACPOC meeting a creative
solutions panel on the subject of physical activity as it relates to
the rehabilitation of children with limb deficiencies.

A creative solutions panel, according to ACPOC's definition, consists
of a series of 5-10-minute presentations(*) of the results of new or
innovative prosthetic, orthotic, or other therapeutic interventions.
Scientific rigor is not the point of these papers; rather, they should
focus on original, inventive or imaginative approaches to problems
afflicting children with limb deficiencies. These presentations are
intended to inspire discussion and collaboration among meeting
participants, to provide new ideas for participants to implement
immediately in the day-to-day care of their patients, and to stimulate
future scientific investigation.

-(*) The exact time allotted for each presentation will be determined by
the Program Committee, when the program is finalized. Authors of
accepted papers will receive notification of their time limit in plenty
of time to prepare their presentation appropriately. Time limits will
be strictly enforced, to allow the program to run efficiently and to
allow time for audience participation.

OPAF warmly welcomes the involvement of individuals, organizations, and
educational institutions in developing a creative solutions panel that
explores the effectiveness of physical activity as its helps to promote
not only physical fitness but also social interaction and a sense of
personal achievement.

If you or someone you know would like to submit an abstract for
consideration, please contact us by email at <Email Address Redacted> or by phone
at (571) 431-0818. Since the ACPOC call for abstracts deadline is
October 1, 2002, we ask to receive all correspondence before August 15.
Submission of the panel proposal will take place before September 15.

All abstracts submitted to OPAF must follow ACPOC's official submission
form, a document which is available for download here:

<URL Redacted>

All abstracts received will be ranked according to their fit with the
goal of promoting physical activity, social interaction, and personal
achievement. A subcommittee of the OPAF Board of Directors will choose
three abstracts to constitute the proposed panel, which will include
OPAF's own contribution.

Any remaining abstracts will, with the permission of their submitters,
be passed to the ACPOC scientific program co-chairs for their review as
possible additions to the 2003 program.

Thank you very much for your consideration of this call for
contributions.

Sincerely,

Jeff Reznick
