In response to Airline Ambassador International request and for information
to the O&P subscribers, our organization has a prosthetist contact in
Guatemala thru The Barr Foundation's Central and South American Project
Coordinator Eddy Fuentes CPO at Shriners Hospital in St.Louis or his brother
and prosthetist Julio Fuentes in Guatemala, at the above cc e-mail address.
The Barr Foundation would be pleased to work with Airline Ambassador
International in this and other third world efforts.
However,a child at 9 years old will require multiple fittings until she is
full grown, perhaps as often as every 6 months.
If accepted by Shriners Children's Hospital, she could receive all
prosthetic care free of charge until she is 18 years of age.
It is for this reason the Barr Foundation normally recommends that
enrollment for full prosthetic care at a Shriner's Children Hospital's O&P
facility be pursued.
Perhaps AAI can help the Barr Foundation in donating the transportation of
the little girl to Shriners to receive treatment or help the Barr Foundation
and the OPAF sponsor her treatment.
