Dear fellow list members,

I am in the process of preparing a lecture discussing The Medicare Diabetic
Footwear Bill & Patientcare Techniques, for our Texas Association of
Orthotists & Prosthetists fall meeting. I would appreciate anything you
might be willing to share wether it be ancedotal, statistical or first hand
experience on the subject.

If you have an article or even materials you use in your education or the
patients and don't mind sharing it I would like to consider adding it to my
material. I would be willing to share the presentations materials after the
lecture with any that contribute to it and are interested in the compilation.

I feel this is a type of patient care that many of us are shying away from,
but that can actually provide a very valueable service to the community.

One big question in my mind is how much importance do you put on total
contact and how do you accomplish this goal? At this time we are making
impression box molds and custom inserts that are then trimmed to fit an
Extra Depth Shoe. Do many of you just do the heatgun on a stock insert
trick and with what results?

Do you bill for all three inserts at one time? We do in our practice and
then encourage the patient to wash and rotate the pairs of inserts on a
weekly basis.

My office number is (361) 888-5346 & the fax number is (361) 882-7851.
Please attach a name & address to any materials you share so I might ask any
clarifying questions.

PS: I send a big HOWDY from TEXAS to my fellow practitioners around the
world!
