Hello all,
I am researching this for a friend of mine. He has a Trans Tibial patient that is blistering out on the ant distal end. It is not caused by any contact or mechanical. This appears to be caused by venous insufficiancy problem. Pt can stand and limited ambulate for very short periods with no signs of trauma, redness, or even sock marks. If the Pt continues to ambulate, or even stand, He develops blisters. Shearban, reliefs, and silicone products have been used to alleviate this problem to no avail.
I think it is the lack of tissue containment that is causeing the problem. Unfortunately it is located on the bevel of the Ant distal tibia. Custom molded, injected, and formed distal end pads have not worked. Pt has venous stasis ulcer on contrlateral side.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
John Gibson, C.P.
