RESPONSE OR DEFENSE PART 2
#######
With all due respect you are wrong. Are you a rep...and for which
company?
No the reps are not providing service, they are providing a product.
They essentially are providing the orthosis out of the trunk of their
car. They maintain no facility, thus the patient has no where to go when
they have problems...they usually land up in my office, using my facility
and office staff time, as well as my time, correcting the problems. In
the instances when the doc's are billing the orthosis, they are not
fitting them, thus they are not my competitor. The reps are using the
doc's facilities, as a convenience to the doc. The doc's office bills it
because the rep can't. Borders on kick back, because the rep is
receiving a commission on a brace the doc bills, which he never fit.
Again when there are problems, guess where they land up...why?...because
we do provide the service, that's how we survive.
As per the not adding anything to the brace, I highly recommend you
take the AOPA billing seminar, it will clarify your misunderstanding of
the design and application of the Medicare L-code system. Base code VS
add-on code...etc...etc.
And yes they are billing under the base fee, the commissions they make up
for that, and they secure the contracts, begin to slowly raise
prices....and that's the oldest game in the free market system...ask Bill
Gates.
With all due respect, who do you rep for? Your response sounds very
defensive, and I can almost assume you are a rep providing services. If
so explain to me how a rep can provide the level of service that an O&P
facility can. The education required to be a
rep...Malpractice...facility requirements..etc...etc...
