Certainly Mr.Nudleman, whom previously address and whined about the
licensure fee below, can't compare the human safety and welfare exposure to
patients requiring qualified comprehensive O&P services to that of a
customer getting a hair cut?
Legitimate health care providers of comprehensive O&P services should equate
payment of reasonable license fees as a
professional necessity to further identify themselves as medical
professionals not vendors of appliances.
They should be proud to write that check!
Hopefully, the day will soon come , when third party reimbursement schedules
may exclude, unlicensed O&P health care professionals. You cant have it
both ways. Either you want to be recognized, qualified and paid as a
legitimate health care provider via a state license, or you don't!
I, for one, am damn proud that my state association, FAOP, (the Florida
Association of Orthotists and Prosthetists) campaigned, fought for and
succeeded in obtaining the first meaningful and mandatory licensure bill in
the country .
As the result of regulation in Florida , Medicaid expanded O&P coverage to
adults.
Perhaps when more of the six states that are currently regulated pass
similar legislation, the ridiculous alphabet soup wars of ABC vs. BOC may
soon be over.
Consumers of O&P services should be looking for and advocating for
credentials of LP, LO or LPO after the providers names if they want a
better choice of obtaining qualified services and accountability from those
providers!
BTW- Mr. Nudleman, you don't appear to be licensed or certified to provide
O&P services.
Are you a barber?
