To all,
Longer ago than I care to admit, a device was described (I believe in the JPO) that relieved pain caused by rib impingement on the pelvic crest in elderly patients with severe scoliosis. I even made one in the mid ‘80s that actually worked quite well. Unfortunately, I can’t recall what this device was called nor remember where I saw the original article describing it. It was a heavily padded belt that cinched tightly around the waist to distract the ribs from the pelvis. I would be much obliged if anyone could direct me to the original article as I now have another patient with a similar presentation and I would like to share the article with the referring physician.
Yours in the Pursuit,
