Mr. McFarland, we have that type of adaptation on a POWERMATIC drill
press. Here is the info off the unit
The Quadrill
Chicago Quadrill Company
1840 Busse Hwy.
Des Plaines, ILL.
60016
We have this kind of drill press in our lab, but it's very old (I
couldn't find a date on the machine). That said, it's WONDERFUL to use!
Here's the information that's written on this press:
Walker-Turner Company, Inc.
The Driver Line
Power Tools - SKF - Ball Bearing Equipped
Plainfield, N.J.
The quad drill head reads:
The Quadrill
-Chicago Drillet Corp.
I hope this helps!
-Don Katz, CO
Its a great machine. I recall the name as Burgmeister or similar. I know they
have one at Gillette Childrens 651-229-3800. They may be able to give you
more info.
I've been digging. I believe the company we purchased the unit
from is Peterson machine, though it's possible they have moved.
Peterson Machine
Minneapolis, Mn.
(612) 721-6661
Also here is the phone number for Chicago Quadrill Company.
1840 Busse Highyway
Desplaines, ILL. 60016
When we ordered are drill presses we set them up to accept the Quadrill.
There was a specific spindle size for the unit. Someone at one of these
places would be able to answer your questions. Hope this helps. If you
hit a dead end, let me know. They also have a tapper avilable on the
quadrill. So we have 3 drill press spindles with a tap head on the same
unit. Pretty slick.
Best of luck, Jeff
Gray Machinery at www.graymachinery.com has a floor type Walker Turner drill
press with a Quadrill head (~1965) for $1250.
There are more industrial type presses with turret heads for ~$4000.
