Title:
Chronic knee pain
Text:
I am presently working with 52 year old male with a recent transtibal
amputation secondary to chronic
osteomyelitis and intractable ankle pain from a shrapnel injury. He has been
successfully fit with a temporary thermoplastic PTB type prosthesis.
However, he also has a long history of knee pain and has limited extension
from his previous problem. His surgeon considers him a candidate for knee
replacement in the future. At the present time he has no relief from the knee
pain and is considering amputation above the knee as a remedy.
His surgeon has suggested joints & corset. His PM&R physician feels his
problem will not be remedied with this addition to his prosthesis.
Comments please and I will provide additional information requested.
