Rohit and Listmembers,
Further to a previous post requesting information about assistive
technology...
The US Department of Education publishes a number free resources on
assistive technology for individuals with disabilities. My organization,
the Orthotic and Prosthetic Assistance Fund, will be making two of these
available to volunteers who participate in our new community program, an
initiative made possible through our partnership with the Hospital
Volunteer Program of the DC Jewish Community Center's (DCJCC) Morris
Cafritz Center for Community Service:
Assistive Technology Program: Ensuring Equal Access Through the
Appropriate Use of Technology. This publication describes the U.S.
Department of Education's (ED's) Assistive Technology program. This
brochure states the support services provided by the Office of the Chief
Information Officer to ED managers and supervisors who need to determine
how technology can be used to meet the reasonable accommodation needs of
employees with disabilities.
Assistive Technology: Meeting the Needs of Adults with Learning
Disabilities. This publication describes tools and technologies that
have been designed or adapted to help improve the functional
capabilities of disabled people. This guide discusses the various
technologies that are currently available and how to choose the right
technologies for you.
You can order these and other materials directly from the DOE at
<URL Redacted> (Phone:1-877-4-ED-PUBS)
I hope this information is helpful.
Best wishes,
Jeff Reznick
