We have completed a right trans tibial endoskeletal prosthesis for a young
man from Honduras. He lost his limb trying to jump on a train to come to
America. He does not have the proper documentation to receive any financial
aid from our state resources.
With the help of Tony Barr's Foundation, we were able to help this man
achieve a high level of mobility.
I was overwhelmed by the generosity of the suppliers I contacted regarding
this project.
Mica Manufacturing Corp. donated a Genesis II foot with cover. I was hoping
for a 'second' foot, one that might have cosmetic flaws, but they sent a
perfect, top of the line foot.
Comfort Products, Inc. had given generously to the efforts to help victims of
Sept. 11th, and yet they were able to help us by donating a dozen Regal
prosthetic socks.
Daryl Sandberg, CP, SPT Technology, Inc. donated a titanium pylon system
including the prong socket adapter. These components are rated to the weight
of 220 lbs. Again, top of the line.
I am pleased to be able to do my part in fabricating a prosthesis for this 23
year old man. He will now be better able to support his wife and two
children.
My sincere thanks to the above suppliers and the Tony Barr Foundation.
