Dear Tony
I would like to thank the Barr foundation for helping me help Keith
Macdonald. Keith has been a patient of ours for many years, he was employed
by a company that did modifications to Nissan vans, Nissan bought the
company and late 2000 they decided to close the company. This meant that
Keith no longer had health insurance.
For many years Keith had been using a Black Max Mauch knee and was very
happy with it, in 2001 it self destructed and needed replacing. Keith had
started his own small contracting company doing building painting and
renovations, being a new company he did not have the resources to purchase a
new Mauch knee. We tried fitting Safety knees from most manufactures but be
broke all of them. It was at this point, when I had no other options open to
me that I asked for assistance from the Barr foundation, through this list
server.
Tony Barr replied and the process was started, it was very speedy and in no
time a knee was donated by John Hattingh of Seattle, who shipped it to Jack
Richmond at Fillauer, it was then sent UPS out to South Africa. Where we
fitted the knee to Keith.
Keith is now a very happy man, having the confidence of his new knee he
knows that he can sustain his wife and family and is a shining example to
the community.
Without this list server I would not have been in contact with the Barr
Foundation, I would like to thank the List
Without the Barr Foundation the contact between donor and patient would not
have happened, I would like to thank the Barr foundation.
Without John Hattingh CPO from Seattle Keith would not have a 3C1 Otto Bock
Mauch unit, I would like to thank John.
Without Jack Richmond from Fillauer Hosmer who co-ordinated the transport of
the knee Keith would not have the knee, I would like to thank Jack.
Without UPS donating the freight costs Keith would not have the knee, I
would like to thank UPS
Without the staff at F W Seaman for fitting the knee Keith would not have
the knee, I would like to thank my staff.
Everyone has been fantastic, however I would like to mention that John
Hattingh who was originally from South Africa and donated the knee unit I
would especially like to thank, it is great to see that John can still give
back to his old country.
John and all who helped I salute you.
Best wishes
