Dear List,

I am a student who is proposing to research and design an ideal rocker sole
shape. Although this area isn't greatly researched, Hansen, Childress and
Knox have spent much time focusing on prosthetic foot roll over shapes at
North Western University. The majority of articles which consider rocker
soles investigate their effect on plantar pressure distribution. In the
proposed investigation, tibial progression, centre of pressure progression
and tempero-spatial variables will be measured.

From my experience and from that of other supervising professionals it seems
that a rocker sole shape applied in the clinic is achieved by trial and
error or estimation. Does any one have any clinical perspectives in regards
to this topic? Any comments would be much appreciated.

Nadia Sirotic,
P and O Honours Student,
La Trobe University.
