ORIGINAL QUESTION:
A customer asked for information I don't know. Can someone help? What is a
PAL AFO and where can it be obtained. All I know is it is a well-padded AFO.
Thanks.

RESPONSES:

David,
The AFO is probably a Richie Brace. Pal use to make the Richie brace and now
they are making a knock off. USMC has the rights to the Richie brace and can
be fabricated at Johnson's Orthopedic 909 278-2031

Hello Dave,
PAL is a pedorthics lab in Illinois, phone # is 800-447-0151. We use them
occasionally for custom FOs and I remember seeing adds in their literature
for the Richie Brace. I believe that's what your customer may be referring
to. They have a website, www.palhealthsystems.com. I would imagine you
will find more about it there.

It is a carbon fiber foot plate with an articulated short calf section. The
company is based in Peoria and markets to the podiatrists and C.Peds mostly.
They should have a web site out there.

Hey David,
They may be refering to the Richie brace which was originaly promoted by PAL
laboratories (a podiatric lab) it sort of looks like an air cast except it
has a U.C.B. foot cup most central fabs (myself included) now make them
custom, and there is a good picture of one in the U.S.M.C. catalogue who,
sells a prefab version.
Or I could be completely wrong.

It is made by Podiatric Arts Labs (PAL). I am at home and don't have a number
handy but they are frequently listed in BioMechanics.

PAL was the original supplier of the Richie Brace, I believe and that may be
what they are talking about.
