Please take time to read and understand the following 're-post'...
Dear O & P Professionals:
On September 12, 2001, I wrote an open letter to this web site under the
fictitious name of Daniel A. Smith. This letter was entitled Aspen and
MDI. Writing the letter was a very serious mistake on my part.
At the time I wrote the letter I was concerned with losing my custom orthosis
business with a large customer, because I could not believe that an
off-the-self orthosis could give the same or better motion restriction than a
custom fabricated orthosis.
During the last month, I applied my first Aspen LSO and TLSO to patients. I
quickly realized how wrong I was to write and post my negative letter on
September 12th. I was very impressed by the performance of the off-the-self
Aspen LSO and TLSO. Both presented exceptional control in the coronal and
sagittal planes. They are outstanding products and I was surprised by how
easy they were to apply as well as their ability to conform to the patient's
anatomy. I would now strongly recommend that every orthotist use these
products in their practice and I am embarrassed of my negative posting.
I now know from talking with the management at Aspen Medical Products and by
using their orthoses, that they really do care about our patients and they
have worked hard to provide us with products that will let us do our job more
efficiently and effectively. I also realize that they do not compete with
us, since they do not apply orthoses nor do they any third party billing.
I wish to God there were some way I could un-write the letter I wrote and
posted on this web site, but unfortunately I cannot. All that I can do is to
apologize to Aspen Medical Products as well as the orthotics community for
any harm I may have caused and ask for everyone's forgiveness, I am truly
sorry.
Sincerely,
B.J. Stagner, C.O.
