The Academy has sent a special invitation via O&P World magazine to
practitioners in South and Central America to attend its Annual Meeting,
March 20-23. About two dozen attended last year's meeting and we expect
more in Orlando. Depending on the response, simultaneous translation
services may be offered. Academy Executive Director Tom Gorski
explained that about 35 Latin American practitioners would need to
register in order to provide the translation services. He also
indicated Becker Orthopedic and Ohio Willow Wood have committed to
provide financial support for the equipment necessary. Experienced
bilingual practitioners will simultaneously translate the sessions from
English into Spanish.
DO YOU SPEAK A LITTLE SPANISH? If so, would you like to be one of the
Academy Ambassadors in Orlando? The Academy Ambassadors will wear a
green identifying ribbon attached to their name badge and would be
available to answer questions from Spanish-speaking attendees about how
the meeting works. Complete fluency in Spanish is not necessary.
Typical questions might include: May I purchase items directly from the
exhibitors...How do I get a ticket for the Friday night banquet...Where
is the session on ____...Are the proceedings papers and notebook free
(yes)...Where is the coffee break, etc? It is the Academy's intent to
make our Latin American colleagues feel welcome at the meeting.

SAVE MONEY BY MAKING PLANS BEFORE FEB 22
February 22 is the deadline for early-bird meeting registration, lower
hotel room rates, and also the last day to take advantage of a series of
special discounted tickets created exclusively for Academy attendees.
Registering for the meeting by February 22 will save Academy members
$50.
The room rates for Disney's Coronado Springs Resort are about the same
as the rates the Academy had at its last Orlando meeting in 1996. As
with any hotel, availability is a matter of first-come, first-served.
Disney's special discounted Park Hopper® tickets are best explained by
viewing the information on the Academy website (www.oandp.org
< <URL Redacted>>). Park Hopper® tickets provide admission to
multiple Disney parks, include complimentary visits to either Downtown
Disney®, Pleasure Island, or Disney Quest® Indoor Interactive Theme
Park. You'll also receive Disney Delegate Deals (coupon book with $75
in savings) and use of Disney's FASTPASS® -- a free voucher with a
designated attraction boarding time which usually limits waiting time to
no more than 10 minutes. There is also a special discount for admission
to theme parks after 2 pm.
