Dear all
I have a 59 yr old, 204lb lady, who has bilateral symes type residual
limbs, they are congenital deformities and have no end bearing
capability. Weight is borne through the prosthesis around the relatively
small area of the proximal brim of her sockets, a differential pelite
liner is used for suspension purposes.
She now faces total knee replacemnts, firstly one side then the other.
The weghtbearing forces after surgery will not change, i.e they will be
high and distributed over a small area. Under the surface will be a
prosthetic knee joint very near the weight bearing surface.
Does any one have any experiences of cases similar to this that they
could share, with respect to outcomes and/or problems we may face.
Thanks in anticipation for your help
