Responses: Sources for "Innerspanner"

Original question:
Where can I find an Innerspanner? (a device that expands inside a
prosthetic socket to hold it securely for use in a vertical transfer jig)
Where is it made? Do any other devices do a similar function? (I'd prefer to
not use plaster in some cases)
RESPONSES:
First of all, in speaking with a representative at Otto Bock, I learned that
this device is not intended to hold a socket for alignment related purposes.
It's for procedures like spraying on a cover, etc.. There are other ways to
accomplish this, like putting the prosthesis upside down on a traffic cone on
a Lazy Susan.
THANK YOU to those who sent the following (partially edited) RESPONSES:
Ipos has an innerspanner: Made in Germany.
0302 With Vise Clamp 442.00
0319 w/o Vise Clamp 365.00
Hosmer used to make one. Not very stable, I wouldn't trust my alignment.
$428
A company called Schein makes such a device. It is called Innenspanner cat
no 029580-000. Its on page 325 of their '94 catalogue.
This is a German company similar to Otto Bock, and they have similarly high
prices too.
It was invented by Jan Prahl.
Is an IPOS tool.
Try Bauerfeind/ipos or their distributors (most all of them).
Down the street and around the corner. HOSMER. At least they used to make
one. The one that I bought used to slide out of really tapered sockets.
We offer in our Program Innenspanner - Internal Tension Jack for holding
artificial-limb shafts for lamination and parchmentization work
Please call Euro International, Inc $425
Tampa, Florida

I think that is available through Hosmer, the original. It is not cheap, but
very durable.
PEL supply has this. I've got one and it's quite useful.catalog page 303.
$428
Please look on page 303 in the Pel Supply Cat. We can get the
000302 inner spanner. $428.00
ipos offers the Innerspanner, I believe the Article number is 000302.
