too many responses to place them all here. 13% were positive about the swash
15% were negative reguarding the swash. the balance were to Quote one person
still looking for the correct population to use it on. the most interesting
response i recieved was from someone that had only applied 4 but like many
orthoses had discontinued use after a short period of time. He claimed this
was successful use and added you had to know what you were doing.
1 every large intitutional O&P (ie shriners I contacted had not found the
correct patient population for this device
2 According to Chris Stiller at Oakland University (7 patients grad
student study) The patient looks better than the device functions but I'm not
ready to say its good or bad.
3 The swash study sent to me by Bryan Schloss of Camp says
> remarks are mainly moderate as far as functional aid is concerned in
all three observations sitting standing and walking.
>They appear to lack efficacy in reguard to energy expense in sitting
and standing positions
>considerable improvement in the childs walking autonomy
Further it says the swash Fails to provide any aid to
Asymmetric patients, cannot be reguarded as an orthopedic correction and
positioning device but rather as a device for the partial control control of
the movement linkage.
Conclusion
Camp you might be on to something but complete the research process prior to
putting a device on the market!
