Colleagues,
Does anyone have experience coding the Stanmore - Flail Arm orthosis (or
similar) for individuals with brachial plexus injury. I have been
requested to provide this orthosis to a medicare patient. Recall that
this specific orthosis may combine an elbow-wrist-hand orthosis
(shoulder when indicated) with conventional upper extremity prosthetic
harnessing/cabling techniques to assist the patient with a flail arm
presentation.
My question specifically concerns the use of both orthotic and
prosthetic L-codes for the same patient. In past coding seminars, I
have been instructed not to combine such codes. Any suggestions?
Thank you in advanced for your assistance.
