Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee is pleased to announce that their
Registered Associate Program in Orthotics and Prosthetics has been
initiated. Currently, we have enrolled fourteen (14) students and have
hired Mr. Daniel Thies, CO, to serve as Program Director/Instructor,
Orthotics, and Mr. Leo Beery, BOCP, to serve as the Instructor of the
Prosthetics Program.
The program has submitted a Letter of Intent and will be filing a
Self-Study Report to gain accreditation status.
The program would like invite any interested party from the O & P Industry
to serve on the program advisory committee. The committee will meet at
least twice a year on the campus at OSU-Okmulgee. Additionally, the
program will be seeking O & P Professionals to serve as guest speakers for
the Associate in Applied Science Degree Program and for the planned
Continuing Education Program. Interested parties should submit a Letter of
Interest, Resume, and a list of potential topics to Mr. Jerry Wilson,
Department Head, Oklahoma State University-Okmulgee, 1801 E. 4th, Okmulgee,
OK 74447 or call (918) 293-5330.
Also, one of the curriculum requirements is an Internship Course. The
program would be most interested in developing a bank of potential
sponsoring employers for this educational effort. Once again, interested
parties should submit a Letter of Interest to Mr. Jerry Wilson, Department
Head.
Currently, the program is in the process of recruiting students for the
upcoming semester, Spring/2002 starts January 7th, Summer/2002 starts April
30th, and Fall/2002 starts September 4th. The program would like to
encourage industry representatives who may have a potential student
prospect in their local area to refer that prospect to the Web Site of
OSU-Okmulgee, www.osu-okmulgee.edu, for a review of the course requirement,
application admission procedures, etc., or advise them to contact Mr. Jerry
Wilson, Department Head for additional information, program brochures, etc.
Enrollment will be limited and student prospects are encourage to apply
early to obtain admission to the program.
Finally, the O & P Program has launched a scholarship and endowed
lectureship fund drive and any party who would like to contribute to this
effort should make their check payable to the OSU Foundation/O&P
Scholarship Fund Account or OSU Foundation/O&P Endowed Lectureship Account.
Working together we can help meet the human resource needs of industry
employers. Thank you for allowing us to provide this educational
announcement.
