After so many helpful responses to my last enquiry about the bilateral hip disarticulation amputee, I have decided to see if anyone can help with another query. We have another patient on our ward at the moment who is a quadrilateral amputee - bilateral trans-tibial and bilateral transradial. She is a woman in her early 20's with a young family. She is doing very well physically, but is feeling very isolated. We have tried to locate another amputee in Queensland in a similiar situation, but as we have a small population, we haven't located anyone.
She would be very keen to correspond with another amputee via email, particularly if she could find someone young and female who she could relate to.
Does anyone know of someone who might fit the bill, who would be willing to strike up a correspondence to offer some support? If you can send any contact details, I will forward them on to my patient.
Thanks in advance for your responses,
Andrea Bowen P.T.
