Peel off product reorder labels

ORIGINAL POST-
Wouldn't it be nice if our suppliers would start putting two peel-off (& bar
coded?) reorder labels on the boxes/bags of whatever they send us?
When the item is used, one label could be put in the client's chart and
the other label could be stuck onto a to be reordered sheet on the
stockroom wall.
In regard to bar coding, it may take some cooperation among the
manufacturers/distributers, but it could be of use when barcoding systems
become more cost effective even for smaller offices.
I am aware that DonJoy provides multiple peel off labels and barcoding.
Royce has a single peel off label (which is better than none.)
I would think that manufacturers would WANT to make reordering their
product as easy as possible, so why not mention it to your supplier.... who
knows what will happen?

RESPONSES- each separated by a blank line. Thanks to those who sent a message!
I use a lot of D/J products and do use their stickers as a chart record of
the item dispensed and also reorder.
I agree it would seem more O&P providers would do this, but it has not caught
on.
D/J does it because so many of their products are dispensed by physicians
offices & hospitals and it does help them get replacement orders.
And Don Joys L codes are less than the cost of the item.
I totally agree. This system does exist in other areas of the medical field
already and would certainly make it easier for everyone to track.
Yes, wouldn't it be nice? Wouldn't it be nice if we could hire people
that would actually GET those stickers in the files? Someone who would
actually PUT the sticker on the reorder form? I think we are both the
organized type. It's very frustrating when our employees are NOT.
We've tried different systems over the years and it always comes back to
compliance and finger pointing. But........yes, it WOULD be nice. :-)
Comfort Regal socks come with several peel off labels, I think.
It would be great if other companies did the same thing.'
Jane marlor here for years I have been Xeroxing the end labels an
stuff them in the charts, including shoe boxes...A peel off would be nice
Boy was that a good idea DUH!!! Why didn't anyone think of that before!! I
hope the manufacturers see this idea and take action, it would great for
everybody!
ALPS has two peel off labels on their s.s. locking liner pkgs. I never
really gave that much thought until I just read your post.
So does Orthomerica
Just a quick note on barcoding - we have been using it for some time now to
enter components into the completion list for each customer/client/patient in
our software. There are barcode readers (at about $200) that connect between
the keyboard and your computer. The computer (being real dumb...) believes
that it is a keyboard input and types the real letters and figures in the
barcode in a spreadsheet cell, for instance. You then have component ID and
batch # for your QA work. If you need that info to still be barcoded, there
are barcode typefaces in for example CorelDraw. Enter the letters and get
barcode for label printing in your office. You can print barcode labels, mark
your shelves, connect the barcode reader to a laptop and do inventory with
it. The computer does not have a care, you just use the keyboard or the
reader any time you like.
