I have a 71y/o white female with significant osteoporosis and bone loss.
She has a 30 degree left thoracic scoliotic curve with a significant amount
of kyphosis. She is a cancer patient with a tumor at L2 and L3 and
compounded with the above maladies has a HNP. She has a history of easy
fractures and has 17 ribs broken (various times over last 10 years). She is
5' 2 and weighs approx. 115 lbs. Due to the scoliotic curve she has
extremely prominent ribs on her right side. The script read for a rigid
orthosis. I have tried a few variations and she complains of severe rib
pain and fears of another fracture. I also tried a corset. She also
complained of significant rib pain with it as well. She has been a patient
of mine for years for other fracture braces and I feel that she has true
pain. She definately is not one of those whiney complainers.
Any and all approches to this case would be appreciated!
Thanks
