I have a "Medicare" question.......

Dear Colleagues,

In times past life was simpler, much simpler.

In my recent reading I ran across a discussion that intimated that a
prosthesis can now be provided to a patient in a SNIF with-out waiting the
100 day period. Is this accurate?

Additionaly I have read that their is a move afoot to allow an Orthotist to
also provide orthotic services to the SNIF patient with-out waiting out the
100 day period. Can anyone comment on thes issues and possibly direct me to
a written resource.

Life sure is a challenge just trying to provide your services and stay
with-in the spirit and guidelines of the law. We live in a world of an awful
lot of fudging the of the law, such as trial fitting items to patients in an
Acute facility, then weeks or months later doing the final fit when it's
determined the patient is neither in an Acute or SNIF setting any longer.
How morally or professionaly can a secretary on the phone determine to call
this now a final fitting date?

Thanks in advance,
