AOPA National Assembly Update --
As AOPA's Executive Director, I am pleased to report good news regarding
attendance at the upcoming AOPA National Assembly in Phoenix on October
24-27. As of today, we are over 15% ahead of last year's final attendance
figures for patient care facilities. That means with more than 2 weeks
remaining for registration, we have surpassed last year's attendance count
for practitioners, technicians and other O&P facility personnel.
Moreover, at the previous two Assemblies we registered more than 300
additional attendees while on site, and we expect similar numbers this year.
It seems too that the industry's enthusiasm for the Phoenix exhibition has
not been diminished by recent international events. Since September 11, we
have received fewer than 15 cancellations. All signs point to the fact that
the 2001 AOPA National Assembly will easily be the single largest gathering
of O&P professionals in the United States at any time over the course of the
next 12 months.
Here are some other facts -
(1) Practitioners at the Phoenix meeting will have the opportunity to earn
up to 30 continuing education credits.
(2) Over 140 manufacturers and suppliers will be exhibiting the most
up-to-date O&P product technology, equipment, materials and supplies and
more than 40 companies have committed to presentations in the product
preview theaters and during the manufacturer workshops.
(3) The Assembly agenda includes a top-notch combination of clinical
programs, Academy Certificate modules, regulatory seminars on compliance and
HIPAA, business management classes as well as government relations briefings
on the O&P negotiated rulemaking and other issues. The education and
training opportunities at the Phoenix Assembly are unmatched by any other
O&P industry event.
(4) Airfares across the country were cut by 50% this past week.
(5) The AOPA National Assembly is the leading forum for networking with
peers, building customer relationships, and staying in touch with the latest
technology and clinical advancements. In looking at the roster of
registrants for the Phoenix meeting, it includes an impressive array of O&P
industry leaders from across the country.
Hotel rooms at the Hyatt Regency in Phoenix (the Assembly headquarters
hotel) are going fast. There are a number of other hotels in the vicinity
of the Phoenix Civic Plaza but I urge you to make your reservations today to
get the best rates at the best location. Let me know if you have questions
or concerns about the AOPA National Assembly. I look forward to seeing you
in Phoenix.
