Greetings to all:
On September 4 I requested input on a problem
with sweat apparently causing an outside
sleeve to slip down over my BK socket, breaking
the airtight seal over my TEC liner. I emphasize
that though I wouldn’t have liked having to
interrupt a good run to stop every 15-20 minutes
to pour out sweat pooling in the TEC lliner, and
likewise the little farting noise itself was
annoying, those things were secondary to me
(and I may not have made that clear enough in
my post). I was MOST concerned that the
sweat-related *breaking of the seal* might allow
or cause *skin breakdown* from the abrasion.
Whereas this might not make such a difference
in routine everyday matters, I *would* be
concerned during a marathon (which usually
takes me over six hours -- though on Oct. 7th I
did 5:49:20 in the Chicago marathon -- my best
time of the last 12 in four years!) (Anyone
suitably impressed may feel free to honor this
achievement by mailing small, unmarked bills
as donations to Chuckie’s Pizza
Carbo-Reloading Fund).
THANK YOU to all who took time to share your
input. I’ve summarized the majority of the
responses. If I didn’t list yours specifically, I
apologize -- it’s simply an oversight in that I got
lost so MANY responses, owing to the
overwhelming *generosity* of so many
respondents!
Again, many, many thanks to all.

*MANY* RESPONDENTS SUGGESTED:
Try wearing the leg and liner for a month and
see if the sweating reduces... (others said as
much as 2-3 months may be necessary)
superstrong or prescription antiperspirant
(Certain Dri, DrySol) or a diuretic
problem with loose fit; tighter fit will reduce
propensity for sweating
A FEW PEOPLE SUGGESTED:
waist belt and fork strap
other liners (alpha, iceross, plus many others
that I’ve never even heard of)
Active sleeve, silicon outer sleeve, ALPS
check trimlines on the medial and lateral
sides: if they don't follow a smooth arc centered
about your approximate knee joint axis, the
edges (or corners) catch the sleeve
suspensions and gradually pull them down
each time your knee flexes
headband or triple thick terrycloth sweat band
under the top edge of the TEC liner
use an ESP liner 3 mm [another suggested a
sock] under the TEC liner, the ESP liner is made
bent at the knee and goes over the knee,
securing the inner liner against your limb. The
TEC liner will stick to the ESP liner.
some individuals mentioned different systems
or specific examples, e.g., suction as opposed
to pin, Vacuum Assisted Socket System, 3-S,
and others
don the sleeve upside down for tighter fit
