Years ago (I won't say how many) a common treatment for shoulder
subluxion was the Kenny Howard orthosis. This of primarily a sling for
he elbow and forearm and a strop around the neck. The unique feature
was a strap, that when tightened would pull the elbow and arm up and
exert pressure on the affected shoulder in a downward direction. The net
result was holding the head of the humerus in the glenoid fossa.
Is this today still an acceptable method of treating subluxion? Is a
more appropriate method available?
Thanks for your assistance
