Greetings all:
Recently there have been questions from orthotists in several parts of the country regarding any connection between The Bremer Group Company and Bremer Medical. I'd like the opportunity to set the record straight:
Bremer Medical was started by Ross and Paul Bremer in the 1980's to market a Cervical Halo Bracing System to the orthotics and medical communities. They sold the company around 1992 to the Acromed Corporation, which was subsequently acquired by Johnson & Johnson. Bremer Medical no longer exists as a distribution company; the Bremer Halo System is now marketed by the External Bracing Group of DePuy AcroMed which is headquartered in Raynham MA.
The Bremer Group Company was started around 1995 by Ross Bremer to market his VertAlign TLSO. The Bremer Group is (to my knowledge) a stand-alone manufacturer and distributor of this TLSO system, and is located in Jacksonville FL.
There is NO formal business connection between the two companies. The External Bracing Group of DePuy AcroMed does not currently manufacture OR distribute a TLSO system. I hope this clears up any confusion in the orthotics community. If you have further questions, I would welcome your calls or emails.
Sincerely,
Peter L. Neilson
