Thanks to all who responded to my Blue Cross Reimbursement post...The
responses were overwhelming and are still coming in. There were many
requests to not post responses, but it was good to know that I am not alone.

It appears that this problem is a widespread one. Blue Cross is essentially
enraging our entire field. It seems that other O&P facilities are handling
this issue in a variety of ways. The majority of the responses seem to be
along the lines of ...drop them!!! Do not provide services for them because
they are inherently evil and will continue to refuse to make payment whether
they issue pre-authorization or not.

I am not sure what course of action seems most appropriate now. Some
responses suggest a more tenacious approach using collection agencies or
charging interest. Still others suggest billing more for O&P services as a
Care Plan instead of billing a product.

Our operations manager is looking into the issue and has scheduled a meeting
with BC/BS reps and intends to work his way up to someone with some
authority in the organization.

I will keep anyone who is interested posted on our progress.
