Being in the military we are often nieve to these stock and bill issues and
other billing type issues. In the military, the Orthotic Lab has always
been a direct sub-speciality service to Orthopaedics. The military medical
plan being a HMO of it's own, most patients who need us (an Orthotic Lab)
who are in a region that has a Orthotic Lab have to use us because we are
available.
With this mentality I would like to brush up on the civilian side and the
reality of the stock and bill issues. I have already read up on it and I am
not completely oblivious to the concepts. However, I will be getting out of
the military soon and have researched many practices for future employment.
My question:
I know of an O&P practice which is in the same building that an Orthopaedic
practice is as well.
In my quest for a job, would it be in my best interest to steer clear of
this O&P practice?
Thanks
James

Just hypothetical, Would that be against Stark II if your father is an
Orthopedic Surgeon in a group ortho practice and you, his orthotist son,
have a O&P practice right in the office?
