Here are the replies received relative to my inquiry as to a less
expensive alternative to the GII Unloader.
Thanks to all who responded.

Townsend Design makes a similar offloader brace that runs approx 560.00
and
the turn around time is pretty fair. We ususally ship to them 3rd and
have
it returned 2nd and we get it back in a week & a half. Also I think DJ
ortho has a similar brace. (more off the shelf but custom to
measurements
of your cast.)

I have been very happy with the Bledsoe Aligner It is a very cost
effective knee brace. It is a quick fit, easily adjustable and very
effective, however, the drawback is that they only have a version for
medial
compartment OA

Try the CTi oasys. It used to come with a 100 % money back guarantee. I
like
them and they are available 'off the shelf'.

have found the Breg OA to be a very good alternative that happens to be

much more profitable. Although, I feel nothing works as good as the
single
upright unloader, my patients seem to be very pleased with the breg.
Good luck

I like the KO David Hayes has it has two
side bars and stabilizes well...contact him @ 813-404-6372 also the new
adjustable Don Joy works well...two side bars less migration but pricey
take
care jem

How much is the GII?
Is this for an OA patient or compartment unloader (knee)?

Breg makes a very nice over the counter or custom made OA brace called
the Tradition
Adjustable Hinge or the X2K Adjustable hinge.

Try the Thruster brace from bledsoe. They have one off the shelf and
custom.
There customs have a turn around time of 48 hrs.

I have had very good luck using the Townsend Rebel 99 Pro. For many
cases I have bent the uprights to effect varus or valgus pressure at the

knee as needed. It only takes a small amount of bending to be
successful. As an OTS it is much less expensive than the custom KO.

Townsend has the Reliever custom and off the shelf. BTW, the rep in our

area is supportive of orthotists.
FlexTech has an OA custom and soon will have an OTS and the rep.
supports
orthotists.

We have switched to Townsend. They have a prefab or custom. Better
quality than Gen II in my opinion. Good luck.

Most custom made OA orthoses are in the $600 range, though GII may be
the
most expensive one. A less costly alternative is a custom fit orthosis.

Townsend Design has a double upright version, the Reliever OTS for under

$400.

try the donjoy oa adjuster

I am pretty sure the Townsend OA KO's are less expensive (depending on
which model you
choose). Overall, they are more expensive than most custom KO's, but I
have had good success
with them vs. the GII's.

Make your own!!!!!!!!
