The American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists regrets to
acknowledge the passing of one of the early key contributors to O&P
research and patient care information, A. Bennett Wilson, Jr.
Ben Wilson, 81, was a prolific author on prosthetic topics. In addition
to more than 60 scientific articles, he co-authored with Al Muilenberg,
CPO, the original patient care booklets for above-knee and below-knee
amputees. He was a mechanical engineer who devoted his life's work to
improving the O&P field, and was the second individual to be selected as
an Honorary Member of the Academy.
Ben's passing was the result of a boat accident. At his request no
memorial service will be held. Condolence notes may be sent to P.O. Box
380, Topping VA 23169.
