Thank you so very sincerely for all the responses (43 in 5 days) on my
milage question. Following are the answers only, no tag lines or IDs thanks.
I heard from qualified owners and fellow windshield warriors. Heard from past
school friends and past work friends. Some of you I know to have a colorful
vocabulary have either matured or just toned down for the post, others
surprised me with your candor. Mostly, I knew the answer before I posted and
the responses served to fire me up and piss me off. You have helped immensely
and I am grateful. The value given in bolstering my commitment to integrity
makes me value this list server beyond measure; thank you Paul! Look for a
post in 3-4 weeks to let you know the outcome.
It is only appropriate if you are getting compensated generously in your
salary.
Sounds to me like you work for an asshole!
Have you thought about quitting?
I've been reimbursed the IRS allowable at both of the small companies I
have worked for. Tell your boss that You are a CO. You could go anywhere in
the country and probably get paid more and certainly get paid for the wear
and tear on your car. Good Luck
Tony...WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD...if you are not an owner you are subject
to having your hemorrhoids adjusted on a daily basis...I for one have
received 250/month...30 cents a mile...35 cents a mile and ...a 500/month
...Best of Luck...it's very difficult to be nice sometimes...signed Bin
there Don Dat.
I own a small facility wiht two offices, four practitioners.
I find it reprehensible that your employer does not reimburse your true cost
( IRS is now allows $.345 per mile). Perhaps he should provide you with a
company vehicle? Or make yours unavailable?
He should also be aware that HE is responsible for any damages you incur
while working. State laws may vary but generally when you commute from HOME
to office it's your time and your expense. Commuting between offices or job
assignments is his time. THis includes liability and work comp.
Tony, your smallcompany is only paying you 6.8
cents/mile??? We receive 31.5 cents/mile for any out
of office visit that pertains to work...marketing,
meeting with P.T.'s, Dr.'s, and seeing patients at
home. We have three employees here. One of whom is
the office manager and doesn't travel much out of the
office for business things. So, that leaves myself, a
CO and a our other employee, a CP, who get reimbursed
31.5 cents/mile for business travel.
I worked for Novacare and then Hanger in the Philly
area for two years or so. I put on 48,000 miles in
one year on a car that I had bought with 43,000. All
that driving trashed my car and made me a very unhappy
employee. You are getting screwed over for your
mileage. Although they say the reimbursment for
mileage should cover the cost of any car repairs, we
know damn well it doesn't even come close to the wear
and tear. Hope this helps.
