A month+ ago I posted a message requesting help in my search for funding a
new myoelectric.
I had a wonderful response from several prosthetists and organizations (AAD,
OttoBock..) that I am incredibly appreciate of. This was my first time on a
list involving amputees in any way and I am touched by the support!
I wanted to acknowledge Tony Barr and Kim Doolan of the Barr Foundation for
their continuing support, their diligent research on my behalf and their
incredible commitment to helping amputees! I feel they have been there every
step of the way and continue to be, in my process for a new myoelectric
prosthesis and I am grateful! Isn't this how we all should be?! It can be
quite a hurdle without the finances and support.
I am on my way back to Oregon to go to school and continue my search in
August. I will be looking for a licensed prosthetist willing to work with me
as I seek funding. I will be applying for Medicaid and Voc. Rehab to see how
far that will go. I have had several responses from out of state
prosthetists (Thank you!).
Again, I appreciate those of you on the list that responded to my
e-mail. I'm still working on it!
