Dear All
I have some bilateral Trans-femoral users wearing Total knees on both
prostheses. The response for function and safety is very good, however
for users of previous prosthetic systems learning to sit by first weight
bearing on the anterior aspect of the foot to initiate knee flexion has
proved a difficult task to master. The main problem seems to be
syncronisation as one seems to bend and the other does not.
It is worth noting that some users have taken to this technique of
sitting with no real problems and it may simply be relearning a
technique for sitting which is required. However if anyone has any
helpful experiences or tips on sitting using these knee units they could
share then I would be grateful to receive them.
