We have a gentleman (270 lbs) with a transfemoral amputation who rides a
motorcycle. He has a Mauch knee unit, but it needs to be rebuilt several
times a year, probably due to the vibration and the fact that he uses his
prosthesis to balance his motorcycle. Does anyone make a knee unit with a
positive locking mechanism for about 20 degrees of flexion? A
weight-activated braking mechanism will not work. The knee does not
necessarily have to be hydraulic. Surely other motorcyclists have had the
same problem. Thanks!
