Hello,
I am currently in the process (will fit 2nd test socket next week) of fitting
a right AK with scleroderma. So far all is going well, however I wanted to
check with the list-serv to find out if there were any special considerations
I should be aware of. This is the man's 1st prosthesis. He is about 6 months
post op, fairly large at 6' and 235 lbs. Very motivated. Long residuum, well
healed (13 inches long)The amputation is secondary to diabetes and he has
significant neuropathy in his upper extremities as well as in his remaining
sound side. His sensation is very compromised.
My plan is to provide him with an IC socket with flexible brim, 4 bar knee,
multiaxial foot, and suspend with a TES type (Otto Bock's new one) belt. He
will be getting outpatient PT for gait training.
Any previous experiences or suggestions would be welcome.
Sincerely,
Paul Meyer, CPO
