Hi and thanks to everyone who responded.
I had a few people who wanted me to post the responses I received. The
question I had asked was... I was wondering what type of adhesive (glue)
people are using. We are currently using a 3M product. Its called
Scotch-Grip 4693 Plastic Adhesive. It's clear and it works great but I was
wondering if there's a compatible product with a lower cost. We are
currently paying $87.28 (Canadian) for a 3.78L can or 1 gallon and I'm
curious to see if we are paying too much for glue
Here are the responses:
To cement our P.Q. Visco Elastic Polymer Products which are made or urethane
not silicone we use Neoprene adhesives. First you must clean off the mold
release with acetone. Then you should abrade the surface ruff it to let the
cement get a hold of the material. Use Barge or Master brands they are
about
15 to 20 dollars a gal and make good bonds.
Just wanted to let you know that the PA-4693 is a stock item at Cascade
National Canada and our price is $53.51CAD per gallon
We use BARGE for most jobs, Poly Adhesive and 3M spray 77.
Don't know the cost, but we something called de cologne. Works really well,
but has quite a peculiar smell. I think it stinks, but our techs think it
smells nice. Go figure!
You could try..... Duall No. 88 (Super strength) All purpose cement.
Made by: R-H Products Co., Inc. Acton, Mass. 01720. Works well for most
things or try: Poly adhesive. Available at most O&P Suppliers.
I used Poly adhesive, from pel supply, It works very good, but I forget
the price, and it is a 3M product so it could be the same glue you are
using,
only under a different name.
We use Renia Colle de Cologne adhesive, and Renia solvent, from LaBelle
Supply, in Burnaby B.C. It is a neoprene solvent based adhesive, with
urethane like properties, and costs us $58.00 for a 4 litre container.
I have been very happy with it's performance to date, with no evidence
of adhesive failures or material incompatibilities.
Thanks again.
