First off, I want to thank you all for the huge response. I sure
don't feel like the lone guy out here frustrated with the sleeves! I
got over 30 responses and about 29 were also having problems. I hope
you manufacturing types are reading!
A summary of the responses is as follows:
Some of the durable products were, in order of popularity were;
-Alps heavy duty Silicone Fabric Reinforced
-Iceross Endurance
-OWW new Alpha Spirit Suction Seal
-Durasleeve...although only partial suction
-Daw's Ultralink
-Mica Sleeves
-Active sleeve
Now all these sleeves all still failed for these people.
Some good ideas were as follows;
These responses did not specify a brand but a way to keep whatever
brand lasting longer.
- Polypro or Co-poly socket has eliminated the problem for one
person. It was the sharp edges of carbon type sockets that tore up
his sleeves.
-Deflecting the sheath 2 over the edge of the socket to eliminat
the shear on the sleeve during the ROM of the knee.
-The TEC double wall socket in combination with deflecting the
sheath.
-Not too tight of a sleeve so as not to have a lot of pressure of
the shear of the socket walls.
-Pelite molded over brim or the Becker Shearban over the brim.
-Go with a shuttle lock with a sleeve so if sleeve tears the person
will not be SOL.
Thanks again. There was a lot of good info. I think a combination
of these suggestions will help. There is a great deal of room for
improvement. We're all definately buying too many sleeves!
