You may be interested in a simpler system = one which because of its design
uses the patients own activity to simulate pneumatic function. The APOPPS
by FLO-TECH (see www.1800flo-tech.com) is available in as many sizes as
there are patients (17 Left, 17 Right plus custom same day shipping) making
each seem as if it were custom made. I designed this system after years of
IPOP fittings and years of watching some patients go without anything.
About half of allo amputees experience a fall during ambulation, this lead
me to design something that could be easily accessed, was patient User
Friendly and didn't vary drastically from accepted concepts of prosthetics.
With Distributors at PEL, SPS, Knit Rite, MedWest and FLO-TECH the APOPPS is
far and away the postoperative system of choice by most prosthetists. 59%
of all FLO-TECH-TOR(tm) sockets sold by FLO-TECH (approximately1600 in 2000)
were used for early ambulation.
Call me at 1800 356-8324 if I can answer any other questions.
Thanks for your interest.
