Marissa,
I am sending you in a separate email (since this listserve does not allow
attachments) an electronic version of a career brochure about O&P. Looking
over your list of questions I think almost all of them are answered in the
brochure. If not, please feel free to email or call me.

Subject: [OANDP-L] help for high school research paper
Hi, my name is Marissa Conrad and I am a high school senior looking for some
information on a career in Prosthetics and Orthotics. I have a research
paper on it for my Human Anatomy and Physiology class, and have also been
interested in this field for my future. If anyone could help me out that
would be great. Here are a few of the questions I need answers to:
1. How many years of schooling are needed?
2. What is the starting salary? and the maximum potential salary?
3. What personal attributes and characteristics should a person posses to be
happy and successful in this career?
4. Who does this career? Men, women, ages, etc.?
5. Is there a need for expanding this career in our society?
6. What kind of technology or specific scientific knowledge is needed?
7. Where is this career in the hierarchy of business?
8. What is the daily setting or working environment?
9. Is this a high or low stress career?
10. What are the pros and cons of this career?
11. Is this more a research office position? Or hands on?
12. Does it require a license or a special exam?
13. What attracted you to this field/ specialty?
14. Are there any dangers assosiated with the work?
15. What is the average length of time a person spends in this career?
16. Is there a lot of emotional strain on you from the patients?
17. Anything else that is of import in this field would help me out also.
Thank you very much for your time, it is much appreciated.
