Excelent Reference on Prosthetic knees
Text:
Dear Colleagues:
A new book was published in Dutch in September of 2000 and has just been
translated into English this March.
The title is Above Knee Prosthesis Technology
by Dr Paul van de Veen.
Dr van de Veen in an engineer and a designer of multiaxial prosthetic knees.
He has done a great service to the field of prosthetics by writing this book.
It is the best and most comprehensive treatise on prosthetic knee mechanisms
I have encountered. For many prosthetists, including myself, it lists and
describes many knees that I was unaware of.
It briefly covers a historical perspective and includes an extensive list and
a systematic approach to the description of fundamental aspects of the
artificial knees up to and including today's IC controlled knees.
I highly recommend it as an essential text and reference work for all
prosthetists, students, educational programs, and other interested parties
including physicians, therapists, and engineers.
It is 152 pages and is full of photos and illustrations.
You can get ordering information by e-mailing the author at

Sincerely,
